REIGN DOWN PEACE

Growing up with 6 brothers and 5 sisters and living in a small house I learnt from a very early age the meaning of 'sharing' in every sense of the word.

My parents stressed 'equality' and 'unity' as the key to happiness and peace, this was paramount in our household, it was only when selfishness was present that tears flowed or we experienced conflict.

The words of my parents rooted deeply in my heart!... I believe the seed of peace must first be planted and cultivated from within.

In 1999 I came across the SMT announcement for 'The Song for Peace in the World Contest' I seized this opportunity to express my feelings about this hot global issue.

Vincent Pace was born in 1953, Sydney Australia, the ninth of twelve children. He studied classical piano from the age of 9 and by the age of 15  could also play Bass, Drums and Guitar.

From a very early age he not only had a love for classical music but also an interest and curiosity for different styles of music and was influenced by prolific songwriters such as Cat Stevens, Lennon McCartney and David/ Bacharach.

He began performing professionally from the age of 14 in a family orientated Latin/Rock band in clubs, cabarets and universities and eventually moved into studio work.

In 1975, he commenced teaching music full-time in the private Music School sector applying his 'hands on' skills in performance and teaching musicology. He has lectured and presented many workshops for young musicians in all areas of the music industry.

In 1985 the Gospel message began to take precedence in his songwriting and in 1997, he formed the Christian rock band Portico. He wrote, produced and arranged the songs for the band's first album "Restoration" which was released on an independent label in 2001.
